An owner is interested in OmNom and welcomes your referral. The next decision is how much setup help would actually save them work. A personal invitation may be enough. In another restaurant, gathering a current menu and confirming the hours could be the useful part.
OmNom offers quick and assisted referrals. Choose according to the owner's preference, the information available and their ability to review what you prepare. Both paths use the referral's assigned reward schedule; assisted setup does not automatically pay more. The goal is to leave the owner with a manageable next step.
Quick or assisted: what are you choosing?
Quick referral starts with a restaurant contact number and gives you a personal link to share. It is a sensible choice when the owner wants to handle setup, already has their information together, or wants to explore OmNom before asking for help. Check the accurate US restaurant contact number with them first.
Assisted referral lets you prepare restaurant details, hours and menu photos with the owner's permission. It can help when the owner has usable source material but would appreciate someone gathering and entering the basics. The owner still reviews the prepared information and completes their own required setup.
See OmNom's current explanation of quick and assisted referrals. These paths describe how much preparation you offer. Neither predicts when the restaurant will be ready to accept orders.
Ask three questions before offering assisted setup
1. Which part does the owner want help with?
Ask about the actual task. Perhaps they want help photographing a paper menu, but prefer to enter their hours themselves. Perhaps they already have a PDF and simply want the invitation.
Avoid assuming that a busy owner wants every available task done for them. A smaller offer can be easier to accept and review. Agree on the details you will prepare before collecting files. OmNom requires permission before creating a draft or uploading menu photos, including information that is publicly available.
2. Are the source details current and clear?
An assisted draft is useful when its inputs are trustworthy. Ask which menu represents what the restaurant intends to offer. A printed menu, website and social photo may show different prices. Let the owner identify the right source rather than choosing whichever looks most complete.
Do the same for hours. Confirm the intended ordering schedule rather than assuming it matches every hour the building is open. If information conflicts, put the question back to the owner. Only enter details you know are accurate.
3. Can the owner review the work soon enough to keep it useful?
Ask when reviewing a draft would fit their schedule. This is a planning conversation, not an OmNom deadline. Preparing a menu just before the restaurant changes its prices can create avoidable revisions.
If review is unlikely until after a menu change, agree whether to wait for the new material or use the quick referral path so the owner can proceed on their own timing. Do not manufacture urgency to secure a decision.
Three situations, three practical choices
The owner has everything ready and wants control of setup
A café owner keeps a current menu PDF and knows the ordering hours they want. They are comfortable entering the details and prefer to work through setup privately after service.
Quick referral fits. Confirm the contact number and share the personal invitation through the owner's preferred, agreed channel. Sending them a second prepared version of information they already manage may add review work without solving a problem.
The owner has a paper menu and asks for a hand
A restaurant owner wants help turning clear, current menu pages into a prepared draft. They confirm the prices and hours and can review the result when it is ready.
Assisted referral fits the request. Agree on the menu pages and restaurant details to use, then prepare that defined set. Keep any unresolved questions together so the owner can answer them without searching through a long conversation.
The available menus disagree and a price change is coming
A restaurant has an old PDF, newer counter prices and a planned menu revision. The owner has not decided which items will be offered online.
Pause menu preparation. More typing will not resolve those decisions. Ask the owner to choose the source first, or offer a quick invitation if they would rather handle setup themselves. A draft full of assumptions leaves them a larger checking task.
These are working examples, not promises about setup speed or restaurant results.
Keep assisted preparation small enough to check
Before starting, agree on a short list of work: restaurant details, confirmed hours and the selected menu files. Keep that list in your own ordinary handoff notes; it is not an additional OmNom form or feature.
For menu material, OmNom supports clear photos or supported PDFs, up to 12 files. Prioritize readable names, prices and options. A sharp image of an outdated menu is still a poor starting point. See the current menu-file guidance.
Separate what the owner confirmed from questions still awaiting an answer. For example, you might have confirmed weekday hours while still needing to ask whether the weekend brunch menu is included. Do not turn that uncertainty into an invented schedule or a guessed menu price.
Before handing over, compare your prepared details with the agreed source. This preliminary check can catch an omitted page or a mistaken number. It does not replace the owner's review, particularly where the restaurant has changed something since you spoke.
Hand over with a short review brief
A useful handoff tells the owner three things:
- What you prepared: identify the menu version, restaurant details and hours used
- What needs a decision: name unresolved questions plainly, without presenting guesses as confirmed information
- What happens next: the owner claims the restaurant, reviews the prepared menu and follows the required setup shown in the app
Share the personal invitation yourself using the app's sharing options. OmNom does not send the Referral Partner invitation for you. Creating a draft alone does not make a restaurant live.
Your editing access to the prepared draft ends when the owner claims it. If you spot an error afterward, tell the owner exactly what needs checking. Leave legal, identity and bank setup to the authorized owner or representative, and keep sign-in codes and sensitive documents out of your notes.
Also avoid promising that you will press a final launch button together. Some setup paths activate automatically once the required checks pass. The owner should follow the status shown in the app.
Choose the amount of help the owner can use
Quick referral works well when the owner wants a link and room to proceed. Assisted referral works well when there is a specific preparation task, reliable source material and a clear opportunity for review. If those pieces are missing, settle the questions before expanding the work.
You do not have to promise ongoing training or promotion to participate; rewards depend on eligible orders during the referral's earning window. Be clear that you may benefit financially from the referral, and agree separately on any help you offer afterward.
Review the OmNom Referral Partner program, ask which task would be useful, and choose the path that leaves the owner with less work to untangle.
