How to Edit or Withdraw an Unclaimed OmNom Restaurant Referral

OmNom restaurant resources

A practical decision guide for referral corrections, an owner who declines, and changes discovered after claim, with clear limits on what withdrawal confirms.

A restaurant owner corrects the hours you entered. Another decides they do not want to continue. Or you notice a mistake just after an owner claims the restaurant. Each situation calls for a different next step.

OmNom lets Referral Partners edit or withdraw an unclaimed referral. Once the owner claims it, the owner controls setup and the partner can no longer edit the prepared draft. Start with that boundary, then decide whether the existing referral needs a correction, a withdrawal, or a clear handoff.

Check whether the referral is still unclaimed

Open the existing referral in the app and check its current status. Use what the app actually shows rather than assuming that an unanswered invitation means the restaurant is unclaimed. The owner may have continued setup since you last spoke.

The current editing and withdrawal FAQ supports a simple decision guide:

  • Unclaimed, and the owner still wants to proceed: correct confirmed information in the existing draft
  • Unclaimed, and the owner wants the referral withdrawn: withdraw it rather than continuing preparation
  • Claimed: tell the owner what needs attention and let them control the changes
  • Unclear or inconsistent status: ask support to review before trying to recreate the restaurant

These are practical decisions, not names of app statuses. If you cannot tell which situation applies, resolve that uncertainty first.

Correct the existing draft when the information is wrong

An edit is useful when the owner's intention is unchanged but a detail needs fixing. Identify the precise error and confirm the replacement before changing it. OmNom's accuracy guidance says to enter only information you know is correct and avoid guessing contact details or menu prices.

Hypothetical example: you prepared a café draft with the owner's permission. Before claiming it, the owner notices that Saturday hours were copied from an outdated menu. They confirm the intended Saturday ordering hours and still want to continue.

Check that the referral remains unclaimed, correct that detail, and review the result against the owner's instruction. There is no need to turn a narrow hours correction into a fresh version of the entire menu. Tell the owner what you changed so they know where to focus their review.

For a contact-number error, confirm the accurate US restaurant number with the owner. Contact details help OmNom detect existing referrals, so do not substitute a different number to get around a duplicate. If the correct number produces a warning, ask support about the existing record.

If two sources disagree, leave the question open until the owner settles it. A newer-looking menu photo alone does not establish which prices the restaurant intends to use.

Withdraw when the owner wants to stop

Owner permission matters throughout the conversation. OmNom requires permission before creating a draft or uploading menu photos, even when those details are publicly available. Earlier interest is not a reason to continue after the owner clearly declines.

Hypothetical example: a restaurant owner agreed to a prepared draft, then decides they do not want the referral to proceed and asks you to withdraw it. Check that it is still unclaimed, withdraw it, and stop preparation and invitation sharing. Confirm completion only after checking the result shown in the app.

Keep your reply brief and factual. The time you spent preparing the draft does not create an obligation for the owner to continue. Avoid using the withdrawal conversation as another sales pitch.

The public FAQ confirms that unclaimed referrals can be withdrawn. It does not explain every effect of withdrawal. If the owner asks whether previously shared links remain usable or what happens to stored material, ask OmNom support before giving an answer. Do not promise deletion, link invalidation, or automatic removal from every record.

Clarify a pause without repeatedly chasing the owner

“I am not ready to review this” leaves a different question from “Please withdraw it.” Ask one practical question: does the owner want the referral withdrawn, or would they prefer you to pause further work while they decide?

Do not treat silence as permission to add more information, upload more photos, or repeatedly send the invitation. If a later conversation is welcome, agree on that with the owner. Any follow-up arrangement is between you and them; it is not an OmNom deadline or guarantee about how long a draft remains available.

If the owner cannot confirm current details, stop filling gaps with assumptions. Waiting for a reliable answer can prevent avoidable correction work.

Hand corrections to the owner after claim

Hypothetical example: you notice that a menu option was copied incorrectly, but the owner has already claimed the restaurant. Your prepared-draft editing access has ended. Explain the specific issue to the owner rather than asking for their login or trying to create a replacement referral.

A useful correction note identifies:

  • The item or restaurant detail that needs checking
  • What you entered and why you think it may be wrong
  • The owner-confirmed source, or the question still needing their decision

Keep confirmed corrections separate from suspicions. “The option name differs from the menu you approved” gives the owner something concrete to inspect. “I fixed it” would be inaccurate if you no longer have editing access.

Making a referral never gives you owner or payment access. The authorized owner or representative handles the protected legal, identity and bank steps. Keep sign-in codes, passwords and sensitive documents out of your messages.

Escalate the uncertainty, not the whole setup

Contact support if claim status conflicts with what the owner reports, a correction encounters a duplicate warning, or you cannot determine whether a withdrawal completed. Give the restaurant name and location, the exact wording shown, and the action you were trying to take. Include only relevant, non-sensitive information.

Keep the existing referral as the starting point. Correct confirmed details while it is unclaimed, respect an owner's decision to stop, and pass changes to the owner once they have claimed it. That sequence keeps a small correction from becoming unnecessary repeat setup.
